The Davis and Smith Family Foundation awards grants to preselected non-profit organizations that are exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and that operate solely for charitable, religious, scientific, literary or educational purposes. Grants are considered during our quarterly Board of Directors meetings held in February, May, August, and November.
We have adopted an invitation-only grant-making process and currently do not accept unsolicited grant applications. Non-profit organizations are welcome to send an introductory email or brief inquiry to the Foundation, which may include general information about the organization and the community it serves, and possibly a project idea and its potential impact. If the preliminary information aligns with the Foundation’s current funding priorities, the organization will be notified of next steps in the consideration process. An invitation to submit a grant application may be extended at that time, along with guidelines for the application. We may also request a site visit as part of our due diligence process.
We are a small Foundation and we enjoy the process of getting to know the organizations we support. As our emerging interests grow, we are learning about promising programs and ideas that are impactful to the communities served by our partnering non-profit organizations. We are developing our funding strategy through this learning process and we look forward to continuing our mission through the grants awarded.
